Booking a singles holiday was a great idea at the time, but if you are starting to worry about whether you are confident enough to meet new people and go it alone then read on for some great tips.

First of all don’t worry; booking a singles holiday was definitely a great idea. It’s not just about meeting new people; it’s about going to new places and getting to know yourself a little better too. Everyone is in the same position as you and whilst some may be experienced solo travellers others will be new to it like you.

All in the Same Boat
Just like your first day at school, everyone is feeling the same as you do. When you first meet your group, you will probably guess who the seasoned solo travellers are and these folk have been in the same position as you and will probably be happy to offer advice and support. You will also guess who the newbies like yourself are – once you have broken the ice it all gets a lot easier so start off with small talk and soon enough you’ll have settled into the swing of things.

No-one knows you
Remember that nobody on the trip knows you. Unlike holidaying with old friends, these guys won’t know about the embarrassing moments of your life. This holidaywill give you the chance to be whoever you want to be. This doesn’t mean you need to pretend you are a helicopter pilot back home, but you can be the self-assured version of yourself you know is waiting to make an appearance.

Go for it!
One guaranteed way to boost your self-confidence is to do something you’ve never done before. If a new challenge lies right in front of you then go for it. Many singlesholidays are adventure trips where a chance to do something new is likely. The sense of self-fulfilment you’ll gain should boost your confidence enough to help you get better acquainted with the group.

How bad can it be?
Those who are shy or lack confidence often imagine terrible social scenarios unfolding before them, but what you need to consider is – ‘how bad could it be, what’s the worst that could happen?’ The simple truth is that everyone feels the same as you and if you say something silly, fall over or have one too many, you probably won’t be alone and the ability to laugh it off will go a long way. At the end of the trip you may never see anyone again so it doesn’t matter anyway! On the other hand you may make lifelong friendships or even something more meaningful.

A lack of self-confidence can prevent many single people from going on the trip they have always dreamed, which is a shame. Just remember that everyone does feel or has felt like you do at some point. Challenge yourself to something new in order to boost your self-confidence, leave your anxieties at home and before you know it, you’ll wonder what you were even worried about.
