Mobilio – the latest seven seater mini MPV from the house of the Japanese automaker Honda! It is set to take on its best-selling rivals like Maruti Ertiga and Toyota Innova. The second generation Mobilio seen now was first unveiled at the 21st Indonesian International Motor Show in early 2014. Next, it showed its face in India at the Delhi Auto Expo 2014 and was later officially launched just a couple of months ago in July. Again two trendier versions have joined in. Honda Mobilio has already started getting voluminous bookings and is soon expected to become a leader in its segment.

The Mobilio is available in two engine options – 1.5 litre i-VTEC petrol and 1.5 litre i-DTEC diesel engines. The petrol unit delivers 119 bhp of power and 145 Nm of torque whereas the diesel unit delivers 100 bhp of power and 200 Nm of torque. Both are paired with a 5 speed manual gearbox. ARAI has rated Mobilio’s fuel efficiency for the diesel unit at 24.2 kmpl and 17.3 kmpl for the petrol unit.

Honda Mobilio is based on the Brio hatchback and is built on the company’s latest philosophy – Man maximum, Machine Minimum. Tall, wide and long, the vehicle has an imposing stance on the road. The front has a smiley shaped facade with a honeycomb grille edged by bulging and curvy headlamps and dual tone bumperflanked by round fog lamps. The side features aggressive lines and surfacing, body coloured ORVMs and door handles besides 10 spoke alloy wheels. The stylish rear-hatch door highlights a massive windscreen and big tail lamps with chrome inserts.

The interiors of Honda Mobilio look undeniablycomfortable and plush ina black and beige colour scheme finished by silver trims. The seat fabric and other plastics used are of good quality. It has a three row configuration. The first two rows have ample legroom and headroom while the third row of seats is a bit restricted. But they arejust perfect for children or else can be folded away to make way for extra luggage. There is a decent boot space of 223 litres in addition to small storage pockets throughout the cabin. Honda Mobilio is also packed with a horde of safety and comfort features.

Honda offers Mobilio in attractive Brilliant Gold Metallic, Carnelian Red Pearl, Urban Titanium Metallic, Taffeta White, Alabaster Silver Metallic, Majestic Metallic Blue and Crystal Black colours. The base variant which lacks most of the features costs around Rs 6.49 lakhs. The high end model with all up-to-date featuresmight come around Rs 11.54 lakhs. With better mileage, power, spaciousness and impressive exterior styling Honda Mobilio is sure to attract the crowds.
