Like with every other type of holiday, there will be some that think Austria is the best and some that prefer other locations. One thing is for certain though – Austria can provide a wonderful location for a ski holiday for all different ages and we’ve been lucky enough to team up with White Blancmange to take a look at the fabulous range of luxury ski chalets in Austria. It doesn’t matter whether you like the more traditional quieter ski resort or if you prefer more of a party atmosphere, Austria really does have something for everybody.
Take St Anton for example, the birth place of alpine skiing with its long ski history. It hosted the Alpine World Ski Championships back in 2001 so you can be sure of finding some great facilities there. It’s situated on the Rosanna River between Switzerland and Austria and has a reputation for being a bit of a party town – perfect if you are young or even just young at heart. There are a number of other winter activities you can try out in St Anton if you want a break from the skiing such as tobogganing, snowboarding or even a romantic ride in a horse-drawn sleigh. If indoor sports are more your style then you can play squash or tennis for a change. As for the night life; well you can expect to find many bars and night clubs to choose from where you can party into the small hours and beyond.
Lech on the other hand is a much more up-market resort, popular with the likes of royalty and was a favourite of Diana, Princess of Wales. In a place like that you are going to find some very high class accommodation and shops such as Strolz- Lech’s answer to our Harrods. It is situated in the snowiest area of the Alps so you can be sure of some high snowfall and good skiing conditions. The perfect place to take a break.
