When it comes to concealed carry weapon laws, there are a number of things to consider. Sure, you may have to conceal your weapon, but what exactly does that mean and what happens if your weapon is not concealed enough? The truth of the matter is that each state will be different, but there are some similarities in the concept of the law. Of course, you will always need a license to conceal carry, but in some states, there may be different regulations for the type of holster you can use and how much you are supposed to conceal your weapon. If you are caught breaking these concealed carry laws, you could be in a lot of trouble. Here are five concealed weapons carrying tips.
- Make sure that you are comfortable with your weapon – if the holster limits your movement, you may have a problem on your hands. Of course, if you went to SwordsAxe and purchased a big blade, you may not be able to comfortably take it anywhere. However, with a concealed firearm, you want to be sure that the gun is in a holster that allows you the opportunity to stand, sit and squat – if it doesn’t do these things, you may want to find another type of holster.
- Make sure to break your holster in – some holsters may need a few days of breaking in before you clip your gun inside of it. Just like a catcher’s glove needs a little breaking in, you want to be sure that you wear your holster around the house for a few days. Most holsters are made out of real leather, which can be quite stiff when it comes out of the gun store.
- Make sure to keep your ammo safe as well – if you don’t keep your ammo safe, it could go bad. Indeed, if you keep your ammo in an area where there is a lot of moisture it could dull the gunpowder. If there is too much heat, your ammo could become volatile, which could cause an injury. Ideally, you want to keep your ammo somewhere cool and dry. There is a good chance that the fine print on the ammo box will tell you how to store the ammo.
- Make sure that you practice taking your gun in and out of the holster – there is a very high likelihood that you won’t use your weapon in public, but in the case that there is a robbery or a life threatening issue, you may have to. The last thing you want is to try and take your gun out of the holster and realize that it is stuck. This could put you in a dangerous predicament.
- Make sure that you don’t act like you have a firearm concealed on your person – this could make people very nervous. Sure, you may feel a little braver and have a little more confidence, but you don’t want anyone to know that you are packing. In the end, for the sake of safety and calm, you want to pretend like nothing is unusual.
