How Does Ransomware Work?

The “WannaCry” ransomware, responsible for causing chaos across 47 NHS Trusts recently, was discovered by the National Security Agency and leaked by hackers, to spread rapidly across networks locking away files.
In 2016 around 54% British businesses experienced a Ransomware attack which saw their users files locked down.
Awareness of this form of malware is key, to avoid being at the mercy of cybercriminals which may or may not return the files after receiving a ransom – there is never any guarantee!
