If you want to stay active and healthy, it’s important that you do what you can to keep your immunity alive and strong. There are a lot of ways to do so, but it takes a little bit of effort and willpower. If you’re trying to avoid getting sick, here are 5 easy and effective ways to strengthen your immune system.

  1. Cut down on sugar. As much as we all love sugar, it doesn’t love our immune systems. In fact, consuming sugar is one of the fastest ways to completely kill your immune system, especially if you’re sick. If you eat sugar while you’re sick, not only will it prolong your symptoms, but it will also make them much more severe. That’s why you want to cut out both simple and refined sugars as much as possible whenever you have a cold or flu.
  2. Get plenty of vitamin C. Most people know that vitamin C is a great way to boost your immune system, however, a lot of people attempt to get theirs through orange juice. Unfortunately, orange juice is so dense with sugar, that it effectively cancels out all of the immunity support that you’re getting from the vitamin C. There are also different brands of powders you can buy, which when mixed with water, give a high dose of vitamin C, but these are often so filled with sugars and other artificial ingredients, that they can be bad for you as well.
  3. Get plenty of vitamin D. One of the reasons why so many people get sick during the winter is not necessarily because of the cold, it’s because of the lack of sun exposure. When you are under the sun, you are taking in tons of vitamin D. However, during the winter it’s a good idea to get some vitamin D supplements, like the ones that you can find at Nutrition Pit Supplement Store. This will help you to keep your immunity up when all of the viruses are being passed around, so that you can get through the cold season without falling under the weather.
  4. Eat plenty of raw fruits and vegetables. One of the best ways to keep your immunity up is by eating plenty of raw produce so that you can get as much unadulterated vitamins and minerals as possible. Eating cooked vegetables is also good for you, but the more they are cooked, the more nutritional value they lose. So be sure to make a habit of eating nice, hearty salads with plenty of vegetables, dark leafy greens, and you can add some seeds and beans for protein, omegas, and essential fatty acids.
  5. Drink ginger tea. When it comes to your health, there is almost no better immune booster¬†than ginger tea. You can buy it pre-bagged in most health food stores, or you can make it yourself from ginger root. Just buy some fresh ginger root, grate it with a cheese grater into a mug, and add hot water. It can be a bit difficult to drink on its own, but if you add lemon, you’ll get a good serving of vitamin C, and if you need sweetener, honey is a great way to sweeten it up without adding sugar.
